Welcome to Around the World on Wednesday - it's World Photography Day!

August 19, 2020

Good morganite, friends!! A very Happy Wednesday to you all. It's time to grab your cup of coffee or tea and enjoy some friendly conversation with one another. 😃

In honour of World Photography Day, Wednesday this week is open to all photographic images, whether modern or historic, natural subjects or man-made. It could be something you've captured yourself or a beautiful image that you've found on the 'net. Maybe it's from your own region or country, or simply somewhere you would like to see with your own eyes one day.
Why is it celebrated on August 19? "World Photo Day originates from the invention of the Daguerreotype, a photographic process developed by Frenchmen Louis Daguerre and Joseph Nicephore Niepce in 1837.
On January 9, 1839, the French Academy of Sciences announced the Daguerreotype process. On August 19, the French government purchased the patent and announced the invention as a gift “free to the world”."

There's no obligation to post images. The only thing we hope you do is enjoy yourself.
