'Proboscideans' is simply the fancy name for the 160+ species of elephants, including the mastodons and mammoths, that have lived throughout their millions of years of evolution! Of the three species still living, the African bush elephant is largest living land animal, with the smaller African forest elephant to be found in the dense Congo Basin forests, and the Asian elephant being native to South and Southeast Asia. This Tuesday, there's definitely going to be a lot of lion about!! 🤭😉😆 Yes, today is the international day to honour the 'king of the jungle', who may not be the largest of the big cat species or even live in jungles, but who does have the most majestic appearance, and possibly the most terrifying vocalisation in the animal kingdom!! Because of their reputation for strength and invincibility, these predominantly African cats are even featured on pennants and emblems of countries where they don't even live! So, whether male or female, adults or still just cute cubs, let's take pride in sharing lots of lions in many different situations and forms, from photographs of them in their natural habitats, to artistic renderings, and of course the usual memes, gifs, cartoons, etc., and make lions the mane feature of the day!! 🤩🦁😍🌍😺 There's no obligation to post images.
