Comic books have been entertaining children and adults alike for many decades now, from early newspaper panels before being presented in soft cover in the late 1800s to what we mostly now imagine when we think of comic books, starting in the mid 1930s with the forerunner of the iconic DC Comics. After chimps and bonobos, the gorillas of the equatorial African forests are our third closest relatives, sharing over 98% of our DNA. So, let's take to the jungle to check on these generally gentle and predominantly ground-dwelling herbivores, but while we're focussing on our primate pals today, any cheeky chimps, boisterous bonobos or other silly simians who want to monkey around are also welcome! 😃🦍🦧🐒😄😺 There's no obligation to post images. Today, we're going to take a look at the 5 rhino species that live across South Africa (2 species) and Asia (3 species), which are some of their oldest groups of mammals. After populations were decimated throughout the 20th century, due to  current conservation efforts, three of the five species have recorded increasing numbers. To mark the day ourselves, let's see some images of rhinos and maybe a bit of rhino-themed fun too, and perhaps share some interesting information as well. 🤩🦏🦏🦏 It is also the day of the September equinox for our US friends, so feel free to also share things about it being the astronomical start of Fall!
