'Proboscideans' is simply the fancy name for the 160+ species of elephants, including the mastodons and mammoths, that have lived throughout their millions of years of evolution! Of the three species still living, the African bush elephant is largest living land animal, with the smaller African forest elephant to be found in the dense Congo Basin forests, and the Asian elephant being native to South and Southeast Asia. Because of their reputation for strength and invincibility, these predominantly African cats are even featured on pennants and emblems of countries where they don't even live!
