Welcome to Freewheeling Friday - it's International Jazz Day!

April 30, 2021

Good morganite, friends!! A very happy Friday to you all. It's time to grab your cup of coffee or tea and enjoy some friendly conversation with one another. 😃

It's International Jazz Day and FNB is going on tour!! Why jazz? According to the United Nations website, "In November 2011 the UNESCO General Conference proclaimed 30 April as 'International Jazz Day'. This International Day brings together communities, schools, artists, historians, academics, and jazz enthusiasts all over the world to celebrate and learn about the art of jazz, its roots, its future and its impact. This important international art form is celebrated for promoting peace, dialogue among cultures, diversity, and respect for human rights and human dignity, eradicating discrimination, promoting freedom of expression, fostering gender equality, and reinforcing the role of youth for social change." The musical style originated in New Orleans around 1900, going on to give rise to a number of different forms and creating legendary names such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Dave Brubeck and Herbie Hancock, to name just a few of many. So, strap yourself into the driver's seat, turn on the stereo and take a Friday drive. You can go anywhere you'd like, but maybe you'll end up in Dixieland!! 🎼 🎵 🎶 🎹 🎺 🎷 😸 There's no obligation to post images. The only thing we hope you do is enjoy yourself.
