Welcome to Meownday - it's International Cat Day!

August 8, 2022

Hello friends!! A very happy Monday to you all. It's time to grab your cup of coffee or tea and enjoy some friendly conversation with one another. πŸ˜ƒ

Today is the 20th anniversary of International Cat Day!! Our feline companions are one of Man’s most common and ancient pets, with the first historical human record about cats being found in Ancient Egyptian culture. After the collapse of the Egyptian Dynasty, cats became popular everywhere, with the Greeks and Romans originally mostly using them for pest control. In the East, cats were originally owned by wealthy people....what a surprise!! 😸 Cats were regular cargo on colonisation ships to minimise vermin and risk of disease during long voyages, so that is often how cats reached new lands to go ashore and flourish. The rest, as they say, is history....so now let's see some cute kittens and magnificent moggies worthy of our worship!! 😽 😻 😺 There's no obligation to post images. The only thing we hope you do is have fun.
