Welcome to a Well Weathered Wednesday - it's Weatherperson's Day! ☀️🌧️πŸ€”πŸ€·‍♀️

February 5, 2025

Good morganite, friends! A very happy Wednesday to you all!! It's time to grab your cup of coffee or tea, and enjoy some friendly conversation with one another. πŸ˜€

OK, so Weatherperson's Day is predominantly recognised in the US and we're supposed to be saying 'thank you' to meteorologists, so here's a little background of the day.... 'Weatherperson's Day, also known as Weatherman's Day is a holiday that celebrates the meteorologists who make knowing future weather forecasts possible. We often take for granted the luxury of weather forecasts. We live in a world where we can gage the temperatures for our weekend trips weeks ahead of time and we can know to bring an umbrella even though it's sunny in the morning. On February 5th we celebrate the people who make all of this possible. The holiday is celebrated on the birthday of John Jeffries, one of the first weathermen who made significant discoveries in the field of meteorology by observing the weather throughout his life.

John Jeffries was a Boston physician and one of the United State's first observers. He began taking daily weather observations in 1744. In 1784 Jeffries took his first weather balloon to London, carrying a barometer, and a hygrometer to the height of 9000 feet.' (holidaysmart.com)

In reality, most of us here probably just had a bit of a snicker at that, and think it often seems now that the only thing weather forecasters are any good for are laughs!! There's no question that the weather now is different to how we remember in the past, and we probably should have some pity for those trying to make some sense of what's coming our way....but it will be much more fun for us today to share funny memes and images about the weather and those who do attempt to predict it!! πŸ€”πŸ€¨πŸ˜‰πŸŒ¬️πŸŒͺ️⛈️🌦️⛅☀️🌈☂️🀷‍♀️🀭😺 There's no obligation to post images. The only thing we hope you do is have fun.
